66 Centennial Treasure Hunt
The Route 66 Centennial Treasure Hunt is coming to Grants, New Mexico! Get ready to celebrate 100 years of the Mother Road with an exciting city-wide treasure hunt adventure beginning Friday, June 5. Participants will explore Grants, solve clues, and discover Route 66 in a completely new way while competing for a $500 cash grand prize along with additional Route 66 Centennial-themed prizes.
A special thank you goes to Tom Fitzsimmons State Farm for sponsoring the event and continuing to support the Grants community through local events and initiatives. The treasure hunt is presented by New Mexico Treasure Hunts, an organization known for creating fun, community-driven adventures that encourage exploration and discovery across New Mexico.

Step into an evening of elegance and celebration at the Cibola Renaissance Society’s Masquerade Ball taking place June 5th and 6th in Grants, New Mexico. The festivities begin Friday, June 5, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a special mask-making night where guests can create their own masquerade masks before the main event. The celebration continues Saturday, June 6, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with an evening of dancing and Renaissance-inspired fun. Tickets are $20 and include admission to both nights of the event. The Masquerade Ball will be held at 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue in Grants, NM.

This special edition of the car show brings classic rides, live music, food vendors, family fun, contests, giveaways, and a full day of honoring 100 years of Route 66 culture in the heart of New Mexico.

Willies Cattle Co. Open Junior Rodeo
Willie’s Cattle Co. IJRA Open Junior Rodeo is coming to the Grants Rodeo Arena in Grants, New Mexico, on June 21, 2026, with a 9:00 AM showtime and a full day of youth rodeo action. Competitors from multiple age divisions, ranging from 6 years old and under to 15–18 year olds, will compete in events including barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping, bull riding, team roping, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, chute dogging, steer wrestling, and more. The rodeo will feature added money, double points competition, trophy buckles for all-around champions, awards for event champions, and added attractions including parent breakaway roping and parent team roping. Entry information is available through IJRARodeo.com, and stalls and limited RV hookups will be available through the Grants Rodeo Grounds. This exciting junior rodeo event will bring together young athletes, families, and rodeo fans from across the region for a full day of western competition and community fun.
4th of July - Wild West Rodeo
Celebrate Wild West Days with a full weekend of rodeo action at the Grants Rodeo Grounds! Events kick off Friday, July 3 with the NMBRA Barrel Race at 11:00 AM, followed by the Open Rodeo at 7:00 PM featuring Battle of the Badges. The excitement continues Saturday, July 4 with the Open Rodeo at 2:00 PM, and wraps up Sunday, July 5 with Junior Timed Events at 9:00 AM. Rodeo acts include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, team roping, and barrel racing, with saddles, added money, and buckles up for grabs.

🔥🎶 SUMMER MUSIC FEST 2026 🎶🔥
Grants, New Mexico is getting ready for one of the biggest music weekends the community has seen in years as Summer Music Fest 2026 takes over @the Elks on July 10th and 11th! This two-day festival will feature live artists from across New Mexico and the Southwest, bringing nonstop energy, music, food, and entertainment to downtown Grants.
Friday night will feature legendary New Mexico hip hop artist Romero, founding member of Clicka One, bringing his iconic Southwestern sound and stage presence to the festival. Saturday night will be headlined by Albuquerque’s own The Riddims, known for their unique “High Desert Reggae” sound blending reggae, hip hop, and rock influences. Many more artists are still set to be announced, so be sure to follow and share the event page for artist spotlights and updates.
Festivalgoers can also enjoy food vendors, drinks, merch vendors, DJs, and an outdoor main stage experience throughout the weekend. Tickets for Summer Music Fest are on sale now through HoldMyTicket.com.
The weekend keeps going Saturday night with Cuarenta Y Cinco performing live inside @the Elks from 9 PM to 1 AM. Tickets for that performance are available now at @the Elks through Moses.

Grants Route 66 Centennial Pow-Wow
Experience the spirit of Route 66 at the Grants Route 66 Centennial Pow-Wow, featuring the Joe Salvador Memorial Gourd Dance. Held at the Grants Rodeo Grounds and Cow Palace on July 24–25, 2026, this two-day event brings together dancers, drum groups, and visitors from across the region for a powerful celebration of culture, tradition, and community.
The weekend includes gourd dancing, grand entries, and a Friday night country and western dance, with respected leaders and drum groups guiding the experience throughout. Whether you are attending for the first time or returning, you will witness vibrant regalia, powerful singing, and meaningful traditions in a welcoming environment.
This is a family-friendly event open to the public. No drugs or alcohol are allowed. Come be part of a memorable Route 66 Centennial celebration in Grants, New Mexico.

Library Magic Show
Experience the wonder and mystery of magic as magician Darrin Race presents a live tribute to the legendary Harry Houdini in honor of the 100th anniversary of his passing. This educational, fun, and exciting live magic show will take place at the Grants Public Library, located at 1101 N. First Street in Grants, New Mexico, on May 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Bent Self Extended Days Tour
Blind Alien Records presents Bent Self live in Grants, New Mexico, as part of the Extended Days Tour 2025–2026. The show will take place on May 23 at the Double Six Gallery, located at 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue, with music starting at 6:00 PM. This all-ages event has no cover charge, giving the community a chance to experience an energetic live performance from the touring artist in an intimate local venue. Presented in partnership with Blind Alien Records, Galactic Weed Bandits, and the New Mexico Music Commission, the concert promises an evening of live music and underground touring energy in the heart of Grants.
El Malpais Ranger Programs
Memorial Day weekend ranger programs at El Malpais
Come to El Malpais National Monument for a ranger program this Memorial Day weekend! All programs are free of charge and weather dependent. Be sure to bring water, sun protection, and comfortable hiking shoes.
Overlook Observations with a Ranger - Friday, May 22, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Take in the early evening scenic views at Sandstone Bluffs Overlook. Park rangers will be at the overlook to answer questions about the landscape and share information on some of the plants and wildlife found around the bluffs. Stay until sunset to watch the sun dip behind the Zuni Mountains. Sandstone Bluffs Overlook is located 19 miles south of Grants on Highway 117.
Lava Falls Evening Hike - Saturday, May 23, 5:00-7:00 pm
Come hike with a ranger to discover the story behind a land of stunning lava features, intriguing plants, and hidden water on New Mexico's youngest lava flow. The hike consists of a 1.1-mile loop trail marked by rock cairns. The entire hike is on young lava rock. Most of the flow is smooth, but there is some stepping up and down required. The Lava Falls Trailhead is located 37 miles south of Grants on Highway 117.
Zuni-Acoma Trail Guided Hike - Sunday, May 24, 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Take a guided hike with a ranger and discover the hidden life, diversity, and resilience thriving on the Twin Craters lava flow. The first part of the hike is through grassland along a dirt trail. Eventually, the trail turns into a cairn-marked route across rubbly lava flows with loose rocks. The guided portion of the hike will cover about the first 1.5 - 2 miles of the trail and return to the parking area along the same route. The Zuni-Acoma West Trailhead is 16 miles south of Grants on Highway 53, just past mile marker 70.

Miniature Painting Workshop
The Cibola Arts Council and Lost Viking Games are teaming up to host a free Miniature Painting Workshop on May 21, 2026, at 1001 West Santa Fe Avenue in Grants, New Mexico. Led by Scott Blankfield from Lost Viking Games, this hands-on workshop invites participants of all ages and experience levels to learn the art of miniature painting, take home a painted model, and possibly discover a new hobby along the way. Supplies will be provided, though guests are welcome to bring their own miniatures if they would like. The workshop begins at 6:00 PM and offers a fun, creative evening for beginners and experienced painters alike. NMBRA Summer Barrel Race
The NMBRA Welcome Summer Barrel Race is coming to the Grants Rodeo Arena in Grants, New Mexico, on June 13–14, 2026, bringing an exciting weekend of barrel racing competition to the community. Sanctioned by NMBRA, Better Barrel Races, and the WPRA Divisional Circuit, the event will feature $1,000 added money along with exhibitions and races throughout the weekend. Saturday exhibitions begin at 11:00 AM with races starting at 1:00 PM, while Sunday exhibitions begin at 10:00 AM followed by races at 12 noon. Competitors and fans alike can enjoy a full weekend of fast-paced rodeo action in the heart of western New Mexico.
